In 1969 Miles Davis gathered 7 musicians for a studio session with minimum of musical material; a couple of his own ideas and a Joe Zawinu composition. Teo Macero cut, copied and pasted the resulting performance into this "proto-ambient masterpiece" (K. Leander Williams). A cult album was born: "In a Silent Way”.
In 2023 8 musicians from FES gathered for a Zonk Session at the Bijlok Club in Ghent to explore the same basic material in a one shot performance. This album is the full set of this club session, no editing, no Macero. The goa was to reinterpret the unique atmosphere of this music in a spontaneous and free interplay. At the 100th birthday of Miles we decided to release this recording. Not on vinyl, nevertheless ideal for the Listening Bar.
